Forest cover and loss in the Democratic Republic of Congo from 2000 to 2010
Project description
Main objective
- Evaluate quantitatively the spatio-temporal dynamics of forest change in Central Africa through the use of multi-temporal satellite data
Specific objectives
- Provide data and information in various projects (biodiversity, climate modeling, conservation, natural resource management, planning, land use, REDD, etc.).
- Mapping the extent of forest coverand change in Central Africa
Methodology
- The method used is the "Wall-to-Wall", a method developed jointly by the American universities of South Dakota and Maryland in the CARPE program.
Partners
- Ministère de l’Environnement, Conservation de la Nature et Tourisme (MECNT), OSFAC, SDSU, UMD, USAID-CARPE, UNIKIN, WRI, NASA
Duration : Long-term
Results
