One of OSFAC's main activities is to disseminate, free of charge, satellite images and derivatives throughout the Congo Basin received from its partners such as NASA, USGS and USFS.

These atlas were produced as a part of the OSFAC initiative “Monitoring the forests of Central Africa using remotely sensed data sets” (FACET in French). FACET is led by OSFAC in collaboration with South Dakota State University and the University of Maryland, and supported by USAID CARPE. Additional support was provided by World Resources Institute.

OSFAC maintains a database of satellite imagery for the Congo Basin and distributes this data upon request. The database contains images of varying resolution and is primarily comprised of LANDSAT, ASTER, ASTER GDEM, SRTM, SPOT and LANDSAT MOSAICS images from 1972 to 2014. Data is available in electronic format through the OSFAC office in Kinshasa, DRC and OSFAC focal points. There is no charge for any data distributed through OSFAC, however some data availability is subject to applicable data sharing regulations.  OSFAC is committed to producing high-quality research, including reports, working papers. Our publications are subject to peer review, and are held to traditional "academic" standards of excellence, such as objectivity and rigor. We also ensure that all of our publications are timely, fit for audience, and rooted in a strategic plan for achieving positive change in the Congo Basin.

 In recent years, OSFAC has worked with its partners, the DRC Ministry of Forests and Environment, USAID-CARPE, NASA, University of Maryland (UMD) and South Dakota State University (SDSU) to provide data, tools and capacity for satellite based monitoring of the Congo Basin forests.

 Guy-Robert KAYEMBE Wa KAYEMBE a un diplôme de graduat en Radio-Navigation (aviation civile) de l'Institut Supérieur des Techniques Appliquées (ISTA) depuis 2006.

Pendant une année, il a occupé le poste de Chef de dépôt dans l'Industrie pharmaceutique ZEMUFA avant d'être engagé à l'OSFAC en 2006 comme Chauffeur. En plus de cette fonction, il est aussi Chargé de la Logistique de l'OSFAC.

 Serge KALAWU MANGALA est Ingénieur en Sciences Agronomiques, spécialisé en Gestion des Ressources Naturelles, filière Faune et Flore a l'Université de Kinshasa. En 2010, il a travaillé avec l’Union Européenne dans le cadre du Projet Makala en RDC comme Enquêteur du projet. Après l'obtention de son diplôme d'ingénieur agronome en 2011, il rejoint l’Observatoire Satellital des Forêts d’Afrique Centrale (OSFAC) comme stagiaire professionnel. 

De 2012 à 2013, il intervient comme Consultant en Système d'Information Géographique dans différents organismes implantés en République Démocratique du Congo, notamment USAID-RDC, Rain Forest Fondation UK, RRN (Réseau des Ressources Naturelles). En octobre 2013, il rejoint de nouveau l'OSFAC, cette fois comme employé à temps plein comme Assistant SIG et Télédétection.

 Bob BOSEKO BOKANGA est Licencié en Génie Informatique de l'Universite de Kinshasa. Il est specialiste  en developpement des applications Web, Desktop, et Mobile.  Il a intégré OSFAC en 2011 comme Database Administrator and Software Developer.

Il a développé plusieurs applications dont les plus connus sont : OSFAC-DMT online et desktop, OSFAC-TMT, PNC-GBF. Il a une parfaite maitrise du développement des applications en langage Java et création des sites web dynamiques.

 Hervé KASHONGWE BALAGIZI a intègré OSFAC en février 2011 comme stagiaire professionnel puis comme Assistant SIG, une année après avoir obtenu son diplômé d'Ingénieur Agronome, avec une spécialisation en Gestion des Ressources Naturelles, option: Sol et Eau à l'Université de Kinshasa.

Il est aujourd'hui coordonnateur SIG du projet MOABI.

 Eddy BONGWELE IS'AKAALA est ingénieur Agronome spécialiste en Systèmes d'Information Géographique et télédétection appliquées en gestion des ressources naturelles.

Il a travaillé avec Observatoire Satellitale des Forets d 'Afrique Centrale (OSFAC) pendant 4 ans comme formateurs et technicien SIG et télédétection avant d'aller aux USA pour approfondir ces connaissances en gestion des ressources naturelles, le changement climatique, et les application avancées de télédétection (suivi du couvert forestier par télédétection) a l'Université de Cornell.

Actuellement, il est Responsable Technique du Projet Carbon Map and Model de WWF Allemagne au sein de l'OSFAC. Bongwele I. s'intéresse à l'environnement et aux technologies de traitement et d'analyse des données géospatiales afin de conserver les ressources naturelles du Bassin du Congo en général et en particulier en République Démocratique du Congo.
