"Monitoring Carbon Stocks and Fluxes in the Congo Basin" COMIFAC Regional Workshop held in Brazzaville, 2 - 4 February 2010
There has been long standing interest in monitoring of Congo Basin Forests, largely driven by research on biodiversity, ecosystems, land use and earth system observations. As a result of the inclusion of REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) in recent climate change treaty negotiations, the monitoring of the forests of the Congo Basin has become the subject of more intense interest. In response, COMIFAC held a workshop, “Monitoring Carbon Stocks and Fluxes in the Congo Basin”, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, 2 – 4 February 2010. This technically focused workshop brought together representatives from the ministries of the countries of Central Africa, national and international researchers and other interested participants to present and discuss the status of monitoring carbon in the Congo Basin.
The presentations and final agenda are now available on the COMIFAC Workshop website: http://osfac.net/workshop/presentations.html.
The full report including an executive summary, summary of presentations, presentations of speakers and the list of participants will be available online in the coming weeks on the following website: http://osfac.net/workshop/default.html.
